Host Counter Strike1.6 Server Easily - Play With Your Friends

I'm a CS 1.6 player for a long time. Often I and my 1.6 buddies wanted to play CS 1.6 from home(we used to play it on LAN). And after trying many methods, this is the method that is the best and actually only working method in my case. I have tried so many methods, articles, YouTube videos, etc. but no luck. But recently I found out the most effective, working and free method. So I thought why not write a blog about it so many like me will get rid of this problem and we'll have those memories back.

Admin Side:

Step 1: Go to ZeroTier website.
Step 2: SignUp.
Step 3: Click on 'Create A Network'.

Step 4: The created network will look like this. Now open that network by clicking on its name(network name will be randomly provided by ZeroTier).

Step 5: Network panel will look like this. Copy this Network ID. You and your friend will need to connect to that network using ZeroTier One client.

Step 6: One more thing, see that 'Access Control' section.
  • If you'll keep it PRIVATE then you'll need to authorize your friends to allow to connect to this network. You can do that by scrolling down to the 'Members' section and mark the check box to allow them. (If not showing anything after joined, try refreshing the page)
  • If you'll choose PUBLIC then you won't need to authorize anyone. But in this access, you won't be able to kick any stranger if they connected.

Client-Side:

Step 1: Go to ZeroTier's website and then go to the Downloads section and download according to your platform.

Step 2: Click on the 'ZeroTier One' System Tray icon and click on 'Join Network...'

Step 3: Everyone (including you) will need to enter that Network ID we copied earlier. Keep 'Allow Managed' checked. And click on 'Join'.

Step 4: If the created network is private then the admin will need to allow the connections to join the network.

Admin Side

Now admin will just start a 'New Game'. And then open a console in CS 1.6 using tilde key (` key)and type:

status

So its output will look like this,

Look for the IP address and port of your PC, it'll be named as 'tcp/ip'.
Here my IP address with the port is 192.168.85.159:27015

Client-Side

Now share that IP address including a port number with all of your friends and they will need to open the console in CS 1.6 and type:

connect [IP Address]:[Port number]

In this case, it'll be:
connect 192.168.85.159:27015

Voila! GLHF.

DON'T SMOKE WEED. SMOKE MID.
